Premium American Walnut – Striking Colour & Grain
Each board is made from genuine American Black Walnut, renowned for its deep, rich brown heartwood, subtle purplish-black undertones, and nearly white to tan sapwood. The striking contrast between heartwood and sapwood creates a floor with exceptional visual depth and character. Expect a mostly straight, open grain, with some boards displaying beautiful burled or curly grain for added interest. Elka’s careful shading process helps blend natural variation, ensuring a harmonious, luxurious finish across your floor.
Superior Engineered Construction
This flooring features a 4mm solid walnut wear layer atop a stable eucalyptus and poplar multi-ply core, providing excellent dimensional stability and long-lasting durability. Boards are 18mm thick, 150mm wide, and supplied in random lengths from 400mm to 1800mm, giving your floor a classic, elegant look. The tongue & groove profile and 1.2mm bevel on all edges ensure a secure fit and refined finish. Each pack covers 1.98m² and includes a balanced mix of rustic B/C/D grades, allowing for black repaired knots and small repaired splits-perfect for adding authentic character.

Elka engineered flooring is a truly practical product, chosen for its strength, flexibility of installation and overall stability. It perfectly mimics a solid wood floor, but is actually made of three or more layers of real wood with an upper layer of genuine hardwood. Its core strength comes from each layer being stacked in opposite directions, so it can be used in most areas of the home including conservatories and in conjunction with underfloor heating.
With all the aesthetics of a real wood floor, but without any of the restrictions, real wood engineered flooring is a practical design choice for any home. Choose from products available in a variety of real wood finishes. When laid, an Elka real wood engineered floor is virtually indistinguishable from a solid wood floor. This is thanks to the product’s unique structure, which includes a generous surface layer of between 6mm of real wood, making it possible for all engineered floors to be sanded and refinished. The strength of each board comes from three or more layers of wood laid in opposite directions. This helps to avoid any issues with contraction or expansion, making it perfect for use in areas where traditional hardwood flooring cannot be used, such as in conservatories or in conjunction with embedded underfloor heating. The simplicity of its construction makes it perfect for use in DIY projects and thanks to its strength, it can easily be installed as a floating floor. Advances in UV cure technology have resulted in a finish that is more versatile, hardwearing and easy to maintain whilst retaining that natural aesthetic of wood. Oiled wood floors require an intermittent maintenance programme. Cleaning the floor with elka clean and applying a coat of elka protect oil at least once a year won’t just remove scuffs and scratches, but will improve its durability and it will also restore your floor to that vibrant piece of nature you fell in love with first time round.
The timeless elegance of a wood floor brings warmth and beauty to every home. The variety of styles, colours and species give you a wonderful range to choose from and allows you to put your unique stamp on your living space.
The real wood products capture all the rustic qualities of wood and bring the very essence of nature into your home. Each floor board is unique, enriched with naturally occuring characteristics such as knots of various sizes, flared grain patterns, burls, sapwood and mineral streaks. These are characteristics of each species’ individual growth process, and are all influenced by region, sunlight, climate and the soil. There are two types of knots; live knots which showcase the beautiful density of the spiral grain and dead knots which are repaired with a rich coloured filler. Any splits or cracks are filled and add a lively character to the unmistakable quality of a natural product. The colour variation within each plank reflects naturally occurring mineral and sapwood streaks and are even further enhanced when stained or treated.
