Product Description
Elka 18mm Native Oak features a robust 4mm solid oak wear layer, expertly finished with a smoked, sawn, and brushed surface, then sealed with two coats of UV-cured oil for a soft, low-sheen look. The rustic B/C/D/E grade ensures each plank is unique, with natural sunken knots, cracks, and lively grain patterns that add authentic charm. Elka Native Oak is suitable for floating installation over underlay with D3 adhesive, as well as full stick, nail, or screw-down methods. It’s fully compatible with underfloor heating when floated over underlay with a DPM, up to a maximum contact temperature of 27°C. The floor is also approved for conservatories, but must never be installed in bathrooms or high-humidity areas.

18mm Real Wood Engineered Flooring Key Features
Colour and grain : this product is a fumed product (ammonia treatment). The reaction on the wood which gives the darker colour is dependent on the tannin content of the wood (the more tannin the darker the result) The tannin content depends on the origin of the Oak but even trees from the same forest have a different tannin content. So a fumed product always gives you more colour variation than a stain but the tone is far warmer, highlights character and helps bring nature in to your home. Flooring must be mixed well to achieve a balanced look.
Character : this product contains D & E grade with large repaired sunken and small unrepaired splits to add character to the product
Variations within grades : Open, with longer rays than red oak. Occasional crotches, swirls and burls. Plain sawn boards have a plumed or flared grain appearance.

Elka engineered flooring is a truly practical product, chosen for its strength, flexibility of installation and overall stability. It perfectly mimics a solid wood floor, but is actually made of three or more layers of real wood with an upper layer of genuine hardwood. Its core strength comes from each layer being stacked in opposite directions, so it can be used in most areas of the home including conservatories and in conjunction with underfloor heating.
With all the aesthetics of a real wood floor, but without any of the restrictions, real wood engineered flooring is a practical design choice for any home. Choose from products available in a variety of real wood finishes. When laid, an Elka real wood engineered floor is virtually indistinguishable from a solid wood floor. This is thanks to the product’s unique structure, which includes a generous surface layer of between 6mm of real wood, making it possible for all engineered floors to be sanded and refinished. The strength of each board comes from three or more layers of wood laid in opposite directions. This helps to avoid any issues with contraction or expansion, making it perfect for use in areas where traditional hardwood flooring cannot be used, such as in conservatories or in conjunction with embedded underfloor heating. The simplicity of its construction makes it perfect for use in DIY projects and thanks to its strength, it can easily be installed as a floating floor. Advances in UV cure technology have resulted in a finish that is more versatile, hardwearing and easy to maintain whilst retaining that natural aesthetic of wood. Oiled wood floors require an intermittent maintenance programme. Cleaning the floor with elka clean and applying a coat of elka protect oil at least once a year won’t just remove scuffs and scratches, but will improve its durability and it will also restore your floor to that vibrant piece of nature you fell in love with first time round.
The timeless elegance of a wood floor brings warmth and beauty to every home. The variety of styles, colours and species give you a wonderful range to choose from and allows you to put your unique stamp on your living space.
The real wood products capture all the rustic qualities of wood and bring the very essence of nature into your home. Each floor board is unique, enriched with naturally occuring characteristics such as knots of various sizes, flared grain patterns, burls, sapwood and mineral streaks. These are characteristics of each species’ individual growth process, and are all influenced by region, sunlight, climate and the soil. There are two types of knots; live knots which showcase the beautiful density of the spiral grain and dead knots which are repaired with a rich coloured filler. Any splits or cracks are filled and add a lively character to the unmistakable quality of a natural product. The colour variation within each plank reflects naturally occuring mineral and sapwood streaks and are even further enhanced when stained or treated.
